Mediation Cost FAQs

Costs are negotiable according to the circumstances, your needs and budget. As a guide, the above fees generally apply (excluding venue and facilities costs):

1. Day Fees:

Assume a seven hour mediation day (usually 10 am to 5 pm) and two parties. The mediation costs shown are the total charge and are usually shared equally between the parties.

2. Half Day Fees

For half a day’s mediation for smaller cases: £875.00 + VAT per party.

3. Overtime Charge:

Time spent over seven hours (full day)
Time spent over four hours (half day)
£125.00 +VAT per party per hour

4. Expenses:

Travel, accommodation and other expenses will be charged at net cost.

5. Payment:

Mediation costs are due in cleared funds before the mediation. Charges for expenses and overtime are to be paid within two days of invoice. In some cases on account payments will be requested

6. Where do we Mediate?

Venues: I am guided by what’s best for the parties. This could be either:

  • On site (if a property or another dispute where it is best to be on site
  • At either party’s solicitor’s office (where neither party are precious about ‘home advantage’ and if one firm’s facilities are better suited for hosting the mediation)
  • A neutral venue arranged by one of the firms or the participants (with my input)

7. Site Visits:

Included in the fee.

8. Cancellation / Postponement Charges:

Cancellation 7 or more days before the set date No fee will be due.
Cancellation 3-6 days (inc) before the set date Half the full fee will be due.
Cancellation 1-2 days (inc) before the set date The full fee will be due.
If the mediation is postponed and takes place on a later date 40% of the fee will be due, plus the full fee for the revised date.

9. Co-Mediation:

Fees for co-mediation costs of multi-party disputes are available on request.

Note: You may wish to book me through Clerksroom, who can also provide meeting rooms for the mediation and organise the facilities. Different charges may apply.
